Which Equipment?

There are many companies that manufacture equipment being used in the airbrush tanning industry. Much of it is standard artists' equipment, regardless of what a salesperson told you. As with DHA solutions, there are some who private label equipment as well, wishing to have their name on everything they sell.

The bottom line is, will it provide a good application?  hold up in a commercial environment? and does the company provide support and a warranty? (If it's relabeled equipment will the actual manufacturer provide support and honor the warranty should, God forbid, the airbrush tanning company vanish in the dead of night?) At the end of 2001 after field testing seven different brands and talking to dozens of airbrush tanners around the country (that's all there were in 2001) we choose IWATA as our equipment provider.

The next decision is the size of the compressor and that is dictated by your vision and your budget. Sometimes people choose to start with modest equipment and add on as their business grows. On occasion people intend to combine beauty services that both use compressors and airbrushes and that may dictate their choice. If one wishes to learn the intricacies of airbrush techniques and graduate to an Airgun sooner or later, the commercial compressors are the more logical avenue. It's actually less confusing than it may seem if you have the advantage of getting advice from someone who uses compressors to airbrush tan on a daily basis. Ideally, that would be the same folks that are selling you the equipment.
